Overview

This macine is intended to be a level above Clay milling systems and will be capable of accurately machining a variety of soft materials inccluding Styrene foams and Ureols. The use of large cutters with some materials can reduce or even eliminate the need for roughing. The machine will reduce total turn around time by using increased cuttingspeeds, larger cutters and most importantly a greatly increased machining envelope that will elimate multiple seups. Wtih the introduction of 50axis cutting, it will be possible to machine a complete Automobile exterior with one setup, using only one NC program per cutter.

LAYOUT

The Main Unit runs on parallel low-profile plates set 3.5m apart. Travel is 7m X 3m with a vertical displacement of 2.5m. A 3rd Transfer plate with integrated turntable simplifies the translation of the main unit to the opposing rail.
Whilst large cars can be milled by the machine in standard form, the modular nature of the system gives it the potential to be extended to allow for even larger jobs.
The CCS (Computer Control System) is integrated into the main unit while the power cable connects to the top of the unit via a central ceiling mounting position.

MILLING SYSTEM

The milling system is driven from a standard ISO G Code program that can be generated from most CAM systems. Optionally NURBS milling can be added to utilise the latest inhigh speed machining techniques.

The standard cutting head is a high torque AC servomotor that has infinitely variable cutting speeds up 6,000 RPM. Numerous standard cutters can be used up to 50mm dia.

VERSATILE

Machine Tool Standard roller rail guides are used on all axis, while the Y and Z axis utilise preloaded ballscrews and the X axis uses a precision syncro rack system.
The modular extension arms of the 3-axis system feature anular sawtooth sprocket ends that allow the head to be set at any angle for cutting or scanning into difficult places or achieving an optimum cutting surface angle. The 5 axis system will eliminate tool setups and produce “off the tool finish cuts”.
